What are your three favourite things in your home and why are they special to you?
Sumita: I really love the windows, they turned out exactly how I hoped they would, as in that they are each their own image. I also really love our bedroom, that was a bit indian themed so I found that was a really great way to bring out a bit of my culture into this place as well! And I would have to say the dome, the stain-glass dome… and I was a critic of the dome at the beginning!
Cameron: My 3 favourite things are being right about the dome, that's number one. I really like the connection we've got with some things in the house... so we've got a grandfather clock for example that's from Sweden that is from the mid to late 1900’s. Then I think the lamp, it’s got a connection with the Whanganui river and so it's amazing to be up there and to look out and see where the river comes out, yeah it's the things like that I like.
What’s your top tip for people wanting to build their own Grand Design?
Sumita: Take some time at the start to really think about what you want to do, and to really think about the spaces that you have and how you might like things to fit into them.
Cameron: I think my top tip would be to stick with what you want basically. People will help you but you just have to be sure of what you want and get them on board and then they'll do anything, it's amazing.
Your build is complete now, what’s next? Do you have any new projects lined up?
Cameron: Junior Lighthouse keeper!
